ADR (or Dubbing) as it can also be known, is a hugely important part of the voiceover world.

Since English is the most spoken language globally...

A good English voiceover, especially an English male voiceover like mine (keywords matter! 😉), is highly sought after to cater to the vast amount of non-English content available.

With the right voice, emotions soar, humour lands, and drama intensifies. This ensures that viewers don’t miss a beat, even if they’re not fluent in the original language.

With ADR, our job is to recreate those words spoken in its international language accurately to (in my case) English.

The Patagonia Spider

These clips are taken from an Italian documentary film called The Patagonia Spider. It tells the story of a group of climbers from Italy. In these scenes I am playing ‘Paolo Vitali’ and am narrating his diary in the first scene. In the 2nd scene, I am reading out the email Paolo sent to his friend who is on screen

Enchilada Group – Ghost Kitchen

This is a brand film for a German company called The Enchilada Group and their Ghost kitchen business I dub the first person and the idea is to recount what he’s saying, but in a clear and concise way

This dub is a corporate film shared with other VO’s Again the tone here is to stay clear and concise with a british dubbing voiceover

How much does ADR voiceover cost?

This is really diffcult to answer simply because of the different types of ADR; is it Single, Group, Reverse Dubbing? For TV, Movies etc? However uou can get a good comprehensive idea of the industry standard rates here and see my general FAQ section on my homepage by clicking here

Can you record ADR from home?

Yes, no problem! Whilst i’m always happy to travel to your studio, some sessions (even more so these days) are remote, particularly with international clients. In those instances, i’m equipped with a professional studio and can be connected via Source Connect or whatever other method is best for you

Are you experienced in ADR?

Yes, i’ve recorded for Netflix on a few projects including TV and film as well as italian documentaires and of course corporate work aswell

Do you speak any other languages

No, i’m only fulent in my native tongue, English. However I’m very comfortable with international names, terms and sayings so whilst I may not natively be able to speak another language, I can apply the correct tone to certain names.

What is the difference between ADR and VO?

Whilst in both cases you need a voiceover artist / actor to perform your script, the key difference between the two is that ADR is an overlay of an existing audio recording, most commonly in a different language. So a film made in German for example, may need an English version, so voice actors are hired to perform the dialogue in english over the german actors on screen. With Voiceover only, this is a recording specifically to provide the sole narration for that particular content
